Ricardo "Ricky" Runimas, a beloved father, grandfather, partner, and friend, passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on November 26, 1937, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ricardo lived a life defined by love, humor, and dedication.
A skilled and respected locomotive inspector for 25 years, Ricardo was known not only for his technical expertise but also for his infectious sense of humor. His quick wit and warm personality brought joy to everyone around him, transforming even the most challenging situations into moments of levity.
Ricardo had a passion for sports, cheering enthusiastically for the Chicago White Sox, Miami Dolphins, and his beloved Argentina National and River Plate soccer teams. His unwavering support for his favorite teams was matched only by the deep love he held for his family.
Ricardo leaves behind a devoted family who cherished him dearly: his daughter, Bonesa Runimas, and her husband, Ryan Scanlon; his grandchildren, Bobby and Theresa; and his loving partner of over 20 years, Ingrid Gruszka. He is also survived by his sister, Dana Runimas Plazyk; brother-in-law, Bruce Plazyk; and nephew, Martin K. Plazyk.
Ricardo now joins his parents, Kvirinas and Elena Runimas, in eternal rest. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy endures through the countless joyful memories he created, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
