Father James E. Flynn
Retired Pastor
Fr. James E Flynn, age 82, died January 5, 2025. He was a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Born in Chicago, he attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein, IL before being ordained in 1967.
He served as Assistant Pastor at Our Lady of the Mount, Cicero, IL, Resurrection Parish, and St. Angela, Chicago, IL. Later he served as Pastor and Pastor Emeritus at Holy Name of Mary, Chicago, IL. He retired in 2012 and served as an Administrator at Ascension-St. Susanna, Harvey, IL and St. Gerard Majella, Markham, IL.
Father James Flynn is survived by his sister Ellen McAdams, brother, Eugene (Nancy) Flynn, and sister, Maggie (Bob) Opal; brother-in-law Charles Dennie; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis J. and Mary E. (nee Lyons) Flynn and his sister Laurette Dennie.

A visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E . Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 3 PM - 8 PM. A second visitation will be held at Our Lady of Kibeho, 11159 S. Loomis St., Chicago, IL on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9:30 AM until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
