Richard Becker

Richard Nicholas Becker, 90, of Midland, died Monday morning September 8, 2025, at Colonnades Assisted Living in Bay City. He was born February 2, 1935, in Drayton Plains, son of the late Nicholas and Dorothy (Grant) Becker. Richard Grew up in Midland and attended Midland High School. On June 3, 1953, he was married to the former Marjorie Murray in East Jordan. She preceded him in death in 2021. He was employed at the Dow Chemical Company for over 37 years as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. Richard was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed fixing old cars, especially Volkswagen. He also enjoyed collecting everything he could and restoring old things to their former glory.
Surviving are his three children, Joanne (Jim) LaFleur, Nancy Becker, and Steven (Amy) Becker; grandchildren, Lisa (Jamie) Doeren, Michelle (Mathew) Wagner, Kristin LaFleur, Nicholas Horner, and Cassidy Becker; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene (Don) Frost.
Funeral services for Richard will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025, from Trinity Lutheran Church, 3701 Jefferson Avenue. Pastor Jeffery Gramza will officiate with burial to take place in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor's charity of choice in Richard's memory.
