Richard Lee Bobo, 69, of Provo, Utah, died unexpectedly on June 21, 2025. His passions included serving his family, music, photography and stargazing. He spent his adult years tracking the stars and skies, and it is fitting that his life's journey ended near the summer solstice.
He was born on February 17, 1956, to Boyd and Juanita Bobo, a middle child of twelve. Growing up in a bustling, loving home, he learned early how to work hard, see the humor in everyday life, and look out for others-skills he would carry into every chapter of his life.
At Orem Junior High School, a music teacher placed a viola in Richard's hands and he was smitten with the instrument, winning scholarships for his musical talents and playing in various orchestras and string quartets throughout much of his life.
Richard met the love of his life, Lois, in a capella class at Orem High School, and they fell in love on the school choir tour. They both served LDS missions to Finland, having to be sent to separate cities when the mission president realized they were high school sweethearts. They were married on June 24, 1978.
In each of his personal and professional roles, he was actively engaged in improving the lives of those around him. He called everyone by name and found ways to charm each person with whom he interacted (including telemarketers!). He worked as a school principal for 10 years at the American Montessori Academy and an administrative assistant at BYU for 18 years before retiring.
Richard raised a family of music lovers who appreciate the value of popsicle sticks, spreadsheets, and finding joy the tiny details. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed driving his growing family on adventures with as many packed into the car as he could fit.
Serving his family was his calling and superpower as he researched the "best of the best" deal on any major purchases, walked children through major and minor home repairs, and consulted on financial decisions. He always knew where family members were along their journeys and was ready with advice on how to find their way home whenever they lost their way.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Lois Bobo; his four children, Logan Beaux, Nikk Bobo, Kirsti (Joseph) Miller, and Kati Bobo; and his three grandchildren, Edward Miller, Makaylah Bobo, and Robert Miller.
