Richard Howard Burdsall, of South Egremont, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 31, 1934, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Ellwood R. and Gertrude B. Burdsall. He was married to the late Priscilla Rogers Burdsall from 1955 until her death in 2018.
Richard is survived by his four children: Richard E. Burdsall, married to Deborah Patterson Burdsall; Thomas A. Burdsall, married to Susan Carroll Burdsall; Sarah P. Burdsall, married to Kathryn Mayer (Bos) Burdsall; and Stuart R. Burdsall, married to Julie Colantuono Burdsall. He was a devoted grandfather to T. Scott Burdsall, Maria Aiello Burdsall, Steven Burdsall, Lindsay Wolf Burdsall, James Burdsall, Alex Burbach, Sam Burdsall, Will Burdsall, Lindsay Burdsall Roy, Dan Roy, Tim Burdsall and Tim McCarthy, as well as a proud great-grandfather to Sofia Burdsall, Matthew Burdsall, Luke Roy, Elsie Roy, Tyler Burdsall, and Dylan Burdsall.
Richard's life was defined by his love for his family, his deep roots in the community, and his enduring commitment to those he held dear. He will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and the impact he made on the lives of all who knew him.
A community gathering to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington. Family and friends are invited to share memories and honor Richard's legacy
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made c/o Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home, for the benefit of a charity to be named later.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
