Richard H. Cardona
May 20, 1931 – November 6, 2023

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Richard H. Cardona of Franklin Park, aged 92, on November 6, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine J. Cardona (nee Baumgartner) for 63 years; loving father of Teresa (David) DeMuri, Michael (Amy), John, Christine and Martin (Fern Smith); cherished grandfather of Tony, Maria, Adeline, Gilbert and Keith; devoted son of the late Herman and Elizabeth (nee Barnes) Cardona; dear brother of Irene Thoman, John (Michele) Cardona and Rita Kalauge; and dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. 
Rich cherished his time with family and absolutely adored his grandchildren. 
In addition to his wife and parents Rich was preceded in death by his daughter in-law Kathleen, brother and sister in-law Ramon and Donnette Cardona, sister Linda Griffin and brother's in-law Robert Thoman and Roger Kalauge. 
Born in Chicago, Richard was the oldest of six siblings. 
He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a proud veteran.
Richard was proud to be a union lithographer working in the printing industry until his retirement.
After his retirement Rich prepared tax returns for individuals seeking assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
He enjoyed reading, jazz, gardening, golf, traveling and was a lifelong Bears and White Sox fan.
Richard is greatly missed; his memory will be carried forever in our hearts.

Visitation at 9:00am on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave, Franklin Park.
11:30am Funeral Mass at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 9613 Schiller Blvd, Franklin Park.
Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
