Richard James Cole, 86, of Greenwood, SC, formerly of McCormick, SC, husband of Christine Keck Cole, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Rathbone, NY to the late Earl and Ida Mae Haines Cole.
Dick, as he was affectionately known, had a remarkable career spanning 35 years as a truck driver. His unwavering dedication to his profession was reflected in the countless miles he traveled, ensuring goods reached their destinations safely and efficiently. Dick was a man who found joy in the simplicity of life. He took great pleasure in spending time outdoors, particularly fishing. Dick was also a proud member of the American Legion, where his involvement showcased his values and commitment to honoring those who have served in the military, like his father.
Dick is survived by his wife of 41 years, Christine, of the home; 14 children, Debra Cole of FL, Kelly Cole of TN, Shelly Cole of FL, Ida Cole (Austin) of NY, Terri Cole of FL, Toni Cole of FL, Raymond Cole of NY, Richard Cole, Jr of NY, Laurie Cole of AZ, Betty Kay Cole of FL, Kenneth Cole of NY, Paula Cole of Abbeville, SC, Joseph Cole of NY, David Stiegers of NY: a brother, Leland Cole of NY; 59 grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
A gathering to celebrate the life of Dick will take place at the home of Tom and Ida Austin, 5123 County Route 17, Campbell on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 1:00pm.
