Richard W. "Rick" Conway, 69, longtime resident of Auburn, MA and most recently of Harmony, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
He leaves his beloved wife of 30 years, Donna M. (Roy) Conway; his children, Jennifer Conway, of Maine, Elizabeth Malone and her husband Scott, of Worcester, Kimberly Reno-Ly and her husband Cam, of Florida, and Amy Reno, of Worcester; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cheryl Weagle and husband James, of Warren, Ronald Conway and wife Darlene, of Dudley, and Carol Gilman and husband Francis, of Sturbridge; his sister-in-law, Sandy Conway, of Charlton; his brothers-in-law, David Roy and wife Cindy, and Robert Roy and wife Debra; along with many nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his brother, Russell Conway; and their parents, Wilfred and Norma (Caplette) Conway.
Rick was born in Worcester, raised and educated in Oxford, MA. He graduated from Oxford High School, and, at 18 years old, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1976. He then began attendance at David Hale Fanning Trade School, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse; Rick then attended and graduated from Worcester State College with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, as a Registered Nurse.
He began his lengthy nursing career at Saint Vincent Hospital as an orderly, and worked his way through the ranks. Rick retired in 2018, after dedicating 30 years of compassionate care.
Rick enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, and was even President of Harmony's Garden Club. He also had an affinity for cars, specifically Mustangs – he entered his beloved 2001 Mustang into many shows. Rick was a longtime member of the Mustang Club of America.
He and Donna moved to Florida in 2018, upon retirement, after living in Auburn for 30 years prior. One of the many reasons for the move was his love for Disney – Rick loved being so close to Orlando, and loved anything Disney related.
Rick also enjoyed learning about space, astronauts, and the universe, and was always inquisitive!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veteran's Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605 (https://www.veteransinc.org/).
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Conway family from 5 – 7 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn. His prayer service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Military honors will be rendered.
