Dickie and I have been good friends since growing up in the little town of Pineview, Georgia. There were only two other boys my age, (Irvin being the third) and the three of us played almost every day building forts in the woods, swimming in the creeks and springs, fishing, shootin' marbles, climbing trees, and going to school and church together. We always sat on the back pew, where the least thing would set us off trying to hold back laughing out loud. Dickie and I have stayed in touch ever since we graduated. I spoke with him this past Christmas, and we agreed to go to Pineview this spring to visit some of our old classmates. It was a terrible shock to learn of his passing. Now I'm the only one of us three boys left, but I have so many wonderful memories of the good times we had together.
