Richard J Cywinski passed to eternal life on Friday, May 20th, 2022 one day after celebrating his 91st birthday.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 25th at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Rev. Jerome Patric will officiate the service, and burial will follow at the Central Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin . Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25th at the church from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am.
Richard was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Szczech) Cywinski. He grew up on a dairy farm in Glenmore, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school, earned a Business degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a earned a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He worked as a Social Worker and Regulation Specialist for over 30 years. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the Army and earned a United Nations Service Medal, Defense Service Medal, Service Ribbon with a Bronze Service Star, and an Army Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant.
Richard had leadership qualities, and led a life of service to the United States of America, his family, and his community. He served as President of the Wisconsin Rapids Lions Club and is an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served as President of the PTA (Parent/Teacher Association) at Mead School and helped with fundraisers for the Lincoln High School band and orchestra. Richard loved helping people, he had a sense of humor, and his Catholic faith guided his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn who he was married to for 60 years. Richard and Carolyn enjoyed square dancing, polka dancing, playing bingo, traveling, watching the Green Bay Packers, attending musical performances, and sports events. Richard was a great example for his children, and grandchildren who adored him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Catherine Cywinski, his wife Carolyn, his sisters Clara, Dorothy, Marcella and his brothers Norbert, and Jerome Cywinski.
Richard is survived by his four children Alan Cywinski, Steve (Sara) Cywinski, Mary Cywinski, and Amy Cywinski. Also, his four grandchildren Kayla Cywinski, John Cywinski, Nicholas Cywinski, and Ashlyn Cywinski. Also, many nieces and nephews, cousins etc.
Richard wishes to extend his thanks for the wonderful care that he received from his family, and friends. He was also grateful for the care at Davita Dialysis, St. Joseph's hospital in Marshfield, and the Marshfield Clinic location in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
