Richard Kay Dennis age 75, passed away on April 20, 2023 at his home in South Jordan, Utah He was born on August 5, 1947 in Murray, Utah to parents Kay and Dorothy Dennis.
Richard graduated from Murray High School in 1966 and was drafted August 1966 into the United States Army, where he received a Purple Heart Award for his honorable tour in Vietnam. After his military service, he became a skilled floor installer and later opened his own independent Floor Covering Company.
Richard married Sharon Fisher on May 1, 1978 and they shared many happy, adventurous years together until her passing in 2010. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, as well as traveling and taking so many loved cruises with his beloved bride. Richard most loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved spending time working in his yard and once received the Beautification Award from the City of West Valley. Richard was a car enthusiast and had a special love for his Corvette.
Richard was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Sharon, his stepson Mike, and his daughter Jamie along with both of his parents; Kay and Dorothy. Also his brother in law Tim. He is survived by his stepchildren, Heidi Warren and Rob (fiancé Vickie Rose) Eccles, his grandchildren, Brittany (Darren) Cootey, Jordan ( Janos ) Stevens, Conor ( Andrea Sierra-Zavala) Eccles, Chylee Eccles, Riley (Jaycee) Eccles, Rian, Morgan and Dillon Warren, Destiny and his great-grandchildren, Liam, Mateo and Serenity. Brothers, David (Mary) Dennis, Kevin (Ginger) Dennis, Kathy (Tim) Holt.
Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love to tease, his incredible infectious laughter and his spirit to love, serve and give to others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A viewing will be held on Sunday April 30, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at the same church as listed below. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the LDS Church 11173 South Copper Point Way South Jordan, Utah with a viewing from 9:30am to 10:30am and Memorial Services from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Graveside Services: Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 E. 4580 S. SLC, Utah.
