Richard Edward Duhaime, 64, of Port St. Lucie, FL and Old, Lyme, CT, and formerly of Farmington, CT, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Lynch Pavilion of the Treasure Coast Hospice in Ft. Pierce, FL, with his beloved wife of 45 years Diane Joy Baird Duhaime by his side, after courageously battling an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer.
Rick was born in Hartford, CT on June 27, 1960, and raised in
Bristol, CT. He was the oldest son of the late Richard E. Duhaime, Sr. and Barbara (Sullivan) Duhaime. He graduated from St. Pauls Catholic High School in 1978, and attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs, where he met Diane. Rick retired in 2016, after working for over 30 years in the family business, Forestville Lumber Co., where he specialized in developing and managing sales, building, and servicing of Anderson(r) windows, doors and other fenestration products. Rick and Diane enjoyed their active 55 and over retirement community in Port St. Lucie for most of each year, returning to their treasured Old Lyme Shores beach community in CT each summer.
Rick loved and lived life to its fullest. His interests and passions included boating, fishing, martial arts, photography, history (especially WWII history), downhill skiing, weightlifting, fitness, music and musicals of many genres, firearm safety and shooting sports, cooking (especially huge barbecues), home audiovisual and sound systems, current events, movies, live concerts (especially Bruce Springsteen), trucks, cars, cats, traveling and bicycling. Rick was admired and loved for his honestly, kindness, strength, intelligence, determination, generosity, and quick and funny wit ("Rick-isms").
In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by his: siblings, John Duhaime; Fayne Duhaime; Julia Nixon and her husband, Dr. Robert Nixon; niece and her husband, Pamela Hill and Tim Hill, and their children, James Hill and Jack Hill; nephew Patrick Joseph Fitzgerald and his wife Elizabeth Fitzgerald; nephew and his wife, Peter Fitzgerald and Laura Fitzgerald, and their children, Dorothy Fitzgerald and Preston Fitzgerald; nephew, Paul Fitzgerald; cousin and his fiance, Douglas Duhaime and Lilliana Baczeski; cousin and his wife, Steven Duhaime and Jennifer Duhaime, and their children, Rylee Duhaime and Blake Duhaime; niece and her husband, Margaret Caron and Joseph Caron, and their children, Elizabeth Caron and Theodore Caron; and nephew and his wife, Thomas Christopher Nixon and Alex Connelly Nixon.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, 5 to 7 PM, and on Saturday, June 14, 2025, 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Service, 13 Beckwith Ln, Old Lyme, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2025, 1 PM at Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Rd, Old Lyme, CT. Burial will follow at Duck River Cemetery, 12 McCurdy Rd, Old Lyme, CT.
