Richard Adsit Engel Jr

Richard Adsit Engel, Jr. was 82 years old when he went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was born to Dick and Lois Engel of MN at City of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, CA on July 18, 1942, and passed away in his home in Moorpark, CA on January 21st, 2025.
Richard played football for Monroe High School in North Hills, CA graduating in June 1960 and earning a football scholarship where he played football and graduated from Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA in June 1964 with a degree in English Lit. He married Kristin Lundquist in August 1965, and He moved to Maui with her to teach at Mauna Olu Community College. After learning they were going to have their first child, Richard Adsit Engel, III, they moved back to Los Angeles, CA where he taught at Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, CA. Before their second child, Deborah Jean Dominguez, was born, he graduated from the Los Angeles City Fire Academy Drill Tower in 1968 where he was a Los Angeles City Firefighter for 29 years, attaining the rank of Captain 2.
After retiring from the LAFD in 1997, he went on to teach again at his church homeschooling co-op in Tehachapi, CA where he lived with his second wife, Wendy Kay Engel.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 47 years Wendy Kay Engel; son Richard Adsit Engel, III with his family, wife Jennifer, daughter Elizabeth and son Joshua; his daughter Deborah Jean Dominguez with her family, her husband Tim, daughter Tami (husband Roy, daughter Haiden, son Noah, and daughter Bella), son John, and son Jacob; older sister Ellen Brown and younger brother Patrick Engel and his wife Marsha; Wendy's sister Cindy Beall and her husband Terry; Wendy's mother Beverly Pyle; his first wife Kristin Drachlis and her husband Bip; former brother in-law Christopher Lundquist and his wife Linda; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.
A Viewing will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012.
The Celebration of Life with be held at 10 am, Thursday, February 20th, 2025, at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village, CA 91362 with reception after the service.
The internment will take place at 2 pm, Thursday, February 20th, 2025, back at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012.
