Dear Michelle,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I am sorry we were not able to make it to the funeral as we were in florida until last night. You and Rick have always been a kind wonderful Christian influence on our family and I really appreciate that. Rick just called me a few weeks ago about some questions I had that were not really important. That is the man he was, he took the time and made it important. I really appreciate you both and prayer God will see your family through this trying time.

I smile, when I close my eyes and remember the first time I met Rick. It was the fall of 1990, and he had just transferred from U.of Richmond law school. We met in the Regent University law library where he was diligently working on a paper. It was obvious that he was a smart, outgoing, motivated and kind individual. During our lawschool years, we all came to appreciate his wit, intellect and dedication to the law. He was a serious student, always prepared for class, and even had time to do "Law Review".
I remember studying with him, and watching him fall in love with you Michelle. You guys were a great couple, both bright and kind and dedicated. We were happy when you became engaged, then married, and eventually moving to this area and opening a law practice together. You guys were an awesome team!
Even though I have stayed at home with my foster children instead of practicing law, i have heard many wonderful stories about you and Rick in the legal community. I know you both have continued to help others and have been a blessing to many. I will be praying for you and your family in the days ahead. I am a phone call away. be blessed, now and always. terri

Michelle, Josh, Katie, Sarah, Caleb, Fran, Kim, and all of the rest of Rick's family:
I am so very sorry for your loss. Rick was truly a sincere, kind person and he always seemed to be smiling whenever I saw him. He welcomed me into your family and I can see from the many loving messages in this guest book that he welcomed everyone and helped so many in the same way. May God bless and help all of you in this time of sorrow.

Dearest Michelle,
Words cannot express the shock and grief I feel for you and your family. Traditional condolences seem terribly inadequate at the moment.
Rick was a dear friend from High School and into our early adulthood. Although many of us lost track of him almost 20 years ago, it's a great comfort to know that his infectious personality continued to bring so much joy to people.
He left a significant imprint in my life and it's apparent that I wasn't the only one whom he affected in such a manner. Rick will forever be remembered with tremendous warmth and love, and I am richer for having known him.
Keeping you, your children, and Rick in my heart.

I met Rick over 15 years ago when I worked at the Sheriff's Office. He made a positive impact in my life and the life of others. He always offered words of encouragement during my times of trouble. I spoke with him on Wednesday and he was calling to seek help for one of his friends in Nelson County. That was Rick in a nutshell, always helping others. I truly loved him as a friend and will miss him.

I've been trying to figure out what to say here for a bit, and so many things are coming to mind. Rick was such a generous and helpful person to all of those around him. He helped me in my time of need, lifted my spirits when I was down in the dumps, set time aside for me when I needed it, opened his home to my family, and danced like it was going out of style at my wedding.
The last time I saw him, in fact, was on my wedding day, and he looked the same as always: smiling from ear to ear and just happy to be enjoying the day.
You don't meet many people who are willing to do so much for someone they know so little, but Rick was one of those people. The world is a lesser place without him in it, and I'm proud to say I had the priviledge of knowing him for a brief period.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle, Josh, Katie, Sarah, Caleb, and the rest of the family.

Dear Michelle, Please know that our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family and loved ones. Rick was one of the dearest, most humble men that we have known. I remember ministering with him several times in the boy's prison and how he was so loved by them..and by those who knew him. He had a magnetic personality and he was a light for Jesus to so many. Such a loved man..we will miss him and are most blessed for all the years that we knew him. May the God of all Comfort, comfort you and your children and famiy and those who loved him so much and bring peace to each. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart." Please accept my most sincere condolences and sympathy for your loss. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. I pray that the Lord will comfort your hearts and bring you peace that only He can bring. I have tremendous respect and the highest regard for Rick and will always remember him as a very kind, caring, thoughtful and compassionate person. Psalm 121:1-8 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber . Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep . The LORD is thy keeper : the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
