Cooper Funeral HomeRichard F. Fry, age 90, of Medina, NY entered into rest peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved family, on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Born on May 9, 1935, in Wellsville, New York, Dick was the beloved son of the late William R. and Ruth (Bristol) Fry. He went on to build a meaningful life, defined by dedication to family, service, and community. Dick served his country with pride as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1957. His commitment to duty was a testament to his strong character and sense of responsibility. On February 23, 1957, Dick married Elaine J. Owens, the love of his life. Together, they raised their family in Medina. Professionally, Dick first worked as a truck driver and then joined Fisher-Price Toys in East Aurora before eventually moving to Medina, where he was employed as shipping and receiving department foreman.
An avid outdoorsman, Dick enjoyed both hunting and snowmobiling. He was a proud member of the Fairview Rod & Gun Club. Sports played a significant role throughout his life; he participated in various sports during his youth and continued to enjoy golfing as an adult. He was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees, cheering for his teams with unwavering enthusiasm. Not content to be idle in retirement, Dick could often be found mowing the fairways at the Shelridge Country Club and had taken up bee-keeping as a hobby. He was also a dedicated parishioner of the East Shelby Community Bible Church. Dick will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor and his constant willingness to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors alike. His presence and generosity will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Keith Fry, Robert Fry, Florence Fry, Betsy Martin and Nancy (Laverne) White; beloved aunt, Ruby (Eugene) Bristol; brother-in-law, Leo Owens; sister-in-law, Mary Owens; nephews, Randy Owens, John Clary and Douglas Owens; and great-granddaughter, Avery Pearl Falker.
