Richard was born in Poplar Bluff, MO on April 1, 1942, son of the late Marion and Cora (Hyde) Gean. Richard married his beloved wife, Shirley Burch, on February 8, 1964, and their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, lasting 60 beautiful years. Together, they built a life full of cherished memories and shared joys. Richard retired from Grand Blanc Fisher Body in 1996 after 31 years of dedicated service. In retirement, he embraced his passions with zest-whether he was fishing by the lake, hunting in the woods, or camping under the stars. Richard found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from puttering around his pole barn to watching his favorite Westerns. He had a special place in his heart for his garden, which he tended with great care, and he delighted in sitting on the deck, reminiscing about the past and enjoying the present. Richard was always there to lend a helping hand, especially to his family. He took great pleasure in traveling and 4-wheeling in the Arizona mountains with his family. Richard's legacy is one of love, hard work, and the joy of living life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Gean; 4 children, Kendra Lavengood, Kandy (Lee) DeWitt, Kristal (Mark Jones) Fernandez and Richard Franklin Gean, Jr.; 2 special nieces, Patsy and Annette Gear; 5 grandchildren, Zak (Jamie) Lavengood, Brittnae´ Henke, Cora (Zak) Carlson, Allie (Chris) Brode and Karlee Weissend; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joyce (Alvino DeSoto) Kogler and Victoria Mcguirk; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Cora Gean; 8 sisters, Emma, Grace, Rosa Lorene, Christine, June, Thelma, Margaret and Jeannette; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Lisa Montes from The Care Team Home Health and Hospice for her kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
