It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Lyons. Rick was a graduate of Wadsworth High School and attended Thiel College where he wrestled and played baseball. Rick spent many years as a part of the Wadsworth Youth Baseball organization as a player and later as a coach. He was a true Cleveland sports fan always following the Indians, Cavs and Browns, but his favorite sports to watch were those that his sons were participants in. Zach and Jake were his pride and joy and he loved nothing more than spending years coaching and supporting them on the wrestling mats.
Rick had a lifelong love for the outdoors. Whether he was out hunting at daybreak, casting a line into walleye filled waters, or gathering wood for one of his unforgettable bonfires, Rick found peace and purpose in nature. He was the kind of person who could turn a simple night by the fire into a memory you carried forever.
He will be remembered for his big heart, his steady presence, and the way he brought people together-often under an open sky, with a fire crackling and stories being shared.
Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sons Zachary and Jacob, his parents Ernie and Nancy Lyons, his sisters Diane (Eric) Baughman and Dawn (John) Porter, his nieces/nephews: Ashley, Hailey, Lukas, and Alex, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Saturday November 22, 2025 at Emanuel United Church of Christ 16 Eastern Rd, Doylestown, Ohio where family and friends are invited to share their memories and honor him. Visitation will be at 11am and service at 12pm with Pastor Gaye Santoro officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Emanuel UCC or to Wadsworth Youth Baseball PO Box 728, Wadsworth, Ohio 44282.
Rick's legacy lives on in every sunrise on the water or a quiet morning hunt in the woods. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
