Richard Dale Markwell, 70, of Greenup, Illinois passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Sunday April 13, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday April 17, 2025, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral chapel in Greenup. Burial will be at the Friends Grove Cemetery. The family would like everyone to dress casually.
Richard was born on May 24, 1954, to Russell and Freda (Dunn) Markwell in Effingham, Illinois. He married Marla Markwell on September 26, 1975. Survivors include his loving wife, Marla; daughter Lori (Josh) Kingery; grandchildren Tanner Kingery (Morgan) and Kenzie Kingery (Keegan); brothers Bob (Carol) Markwell, Bill (Mary Lou) Markwell; sisters Joyce Henderson and Sandy McElravy; sisters-in-law Deann (Brent) Brickzin and Cindy Markwell; brothers-in-law Clark (Kay) Markwell and Ray (Gladys) Markwell; several nieces and nephews; and special buddy Mabel. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Randy McElravy and Larry Henderson; grandparents Louis and Bonnie Markwell and Gerald and Cleo Dunn.
Richard earned a degree in Ag Mechanics from Lake Land College and went on to work at Diel and Thompson in Toledo. He would later work for Dittamore Implement and would retire from Evapco Midwest. He was a long-time member of Friends Grove Church in rural Toledo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center or Friends Grove Church.
