Richard or Mac as most knew him was a unique individual. I first met him in the early 80s. He was a man who could do everything he set his mind to. He was a mentor and friend. He always said he liked to lead from behind. I so admired his knowledge, sense of humor, his ability to do on the fly, and his own description of things. He called a coupling 'a double ended come together'. I spent many nights with him on jobs at the Fairland Data Center. There were a few times when we both had our jobs on the line for doing things in an unorthodox manner. He will be dearly missed.
