Richard L. Mitchell, 72, of Summit Twp., passed away surrounded by family on Monday, August 25, 2025, at his residence.

He was born in Erie on September 3, 1952, a son of the late John J. and Grace D. Mitchell.

He was a graduate of Tech Memorial, Class of 1970.

He served in the US Navy as a Lithographer.

After the US Navy, Richard worked as a professional printer for numerous companies in the Erie area.

He was a member of the Foresters. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend Jim, football, watching tv in his recliner while taking naps, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kauffman Mitchell and his brother, Donald Mitchell.

He is survived by his son, Brodie Mitchell (Anissa) of Conneautville, PA; his daughter, Richelle Schroeder (Greg) of Erie; his sister, Barbara Gavula (George); his brother, John Mitchell (Karen); his grandchildren, Patrick Mitchell and Lynanne Schroeder; several nieces and nephews; three great grandchildren; and his best friend Jim Foster.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Burial will be private in Lakeside Cemetery.
