Laura Jean Alwens Parker Hudson, 93, of Erie, passed away Wednesday August 20, 2025. She was born in Erie on July 3, 1932 a daughter of the late Eugene Maxmillian Alwens and Muriel F. Baldry Alwens Gauman.

Laura graduated from Academy High School and worked for Hammermill Paper Company/ International Paper until her retirement. She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Grace Fellowship and a current member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the churches where she belonged. She sang in the choirs at St. John's and Emmanuel Presbyterian and taught Sunday School at Grace Fellowship and Emmanuel Presbyterian. She also wrote sermons and preached at Emmanuel Presbyterian. She loved dogs and especially loved singing and playing cards with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbert James Parker; her second husband, Doyle George Hudson; two sisters, Louise Doty (Bill) and Martha Dodson (Al); and her brother, Max Alwens, Sr. (Rose).

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Parker and David Parker; one daughter Janet Frommer (Charles); three grandchildren, Tracey Parker, Megan Salt (Michael Ando), and Colin Salt; one great granddaughter, Cora Ando; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday August 25th from 10 a.m. until the time of services there at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 3520 Perry St., Erie, 16504.
