Murney, Richard L ("Dick")
Greece, NY on March 5, 2024. Predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Lydia Marie (Terpolilli). Survived by his son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Teresa (Rivoli), Grandchildren, Emily Grace and Ava Marie, predeceased by his Mother, Beatrice (Jarvis), Father, Louis and Brother Gary (Sandra) and George (Shirley), all of Waterloo, NY. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Waterloo, NY. Richard was an active sports enthusiast, played baseball, basketball, and football. He was the captain of the basketball and football teams and was All-Conference for 2 years in those sports. Richard was elected into the Waterloo Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Richard graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree along with a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He played football and basketball and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Murney also attended the University of Rochester taking several graduate courses in Business from 1958-1961.
He served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict where he worked on Mortar Tracking Radar equipment. Richard was a member of the American Legion from 1955 until his death.
He was employed by the Eastman Kodak Company in 1955. Richard held various staff and supervisory positions during the 36 years of service retiring as a Director of the Materials Management Division in 1991.
Richard loved the outdoors and enjoyed many years hunting and fishing with his family and friends while fishing the Finger Lakes and Adirondacks, enjoying their camaraderie throughout his lifetime. One of his proudest achievements was being certified as a Manitoba Canada Master Angler in four fish categories, (Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Walleye and Northern Pike). He particularly liked Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario with his son and Granddaughters.
He was an amazing father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend and is already greatly missed!
Friends may call Sunday (March 24th) 11:00am – 1:00pm at Vay-Schleich & Meeson. 1075 Long Pond Road, Rochester NY 14626. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Mount Carmel House, 288 Frisbee Hill Road, Hilton NY 14468.
