Richard "Dick" Neil Newman

September 24, 1944 – September 20, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Neil Newman, who left this world on September 20, 2025, just four days shy of his 81st birthday. He passed away at his home in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dick was born on September 24, 1944, in Graham, Texas.

He was the beloved husband of Sharon Newman, with whom he shared 20 wonderful years. Their time together was filled with love, companionship, and countless cherished memories. His passing leaves a profound void in Sharon's heart and life.

Dick is survived by his children: Rachael Walter, Rebecca (John) King, and Debra (Mike) Bush. He was a proud grandfather to LaKota (Kathleen) Walter, Tristan (Sieaira) Walter, Travis (Peyton) Bechard, Evan (Ruth) Ingram, Amanda (Sawyer) Smith, Amelia (Ashton) Hargis, Katherine (Kyler) King, and Alex (Annabelle) Walter.

He was blessed with a number of great-grandchildren: Oakley Hardesty, Raelynn Hardesty, Paisley Smith, Lochlan Karcken Walter, Vidalia Karcken Walter, Forrest Karcken Walter, Uriah Miller, Seras Walter, Runa Walter, Emmleea Walter, Leanne Walter, Valarie Walter, and Ashher Bechard.

Dick is also survived by his brother Sarge (Cathy) Newman and sister Kerry (James) Newman; niece Leslie (Brad) Hornberger; great-niece McKenna Hornberger; great-nephews Nash Hornberger and Jacob Newman; and his dear "cuzbro" Paul (Debbie) Bullock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Cyrus Newman, and his nephew Steve Newman.

Dick will be remembered for always willing to lend a helping hand. His greatest joy in life was being a grandpa and great-grandpa. He rarely missed a ball game, music program, dance recital, or any event involving the kids he loved so much.

In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and his music.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
