Richard David Pietrasz, Sr., 71 of Medina, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, embraced in the arms of Jesus, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, following an extended battle with cardiac issues. Richard was born on December 21, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Walter E. and Laverne D. (May) Pietrasz.
Rick was a certified diesel mechanic and has been retired from O'Brien & Nye Cartage company for many years. Rick immensely enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. With a helping-hand nature, in his spare time, Rick would be helping his daughter Vicki in their concession stand business. Rick cherished watching his son play hockey and his daughters figure skating as they grew up. He was incredibly proud of his children; however, his granddaughters had him completely wrapped around their fingers. Rick's affectionate teasing even led them to playfully call him the "Rulebreaker."
Besides his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother in-law, Robert and Elda Custer and brother in-law, Wendell Giguere.
Rick will be missed deeply by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Lynn Pietrasz, his three children: Victoria Lynn (Kevin) Hatch of Florence, KY; Susan Ann (Steve) Urzycki of Aurora, OH; and Richard David (Dan) Pietrasz Jr. of Menlo Park, CA; five grandchildren: Olivia Urzycki, Oryann Urzycki, Blake Hatch, Aidan Hatch, and Maggie Hatch and her fiancé, Dalton Abfall; two sisters: Karen Giguere of Brunswick, OH, and Carol (Steve) Yanico of Westfield Twp, OH; brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Lori) Custer of Brunswick, OH, and Sharon (Robert) Campbell of Litchfield, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He will be remembered with the sentiment, "I love you more today than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow."
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home Brunswick Chapel with Pastor Gary Fox officiating. Calling hours will precede the services from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of RICHARD, please visit our Tree Store.
