Richard J. Smith, 78, formerly of Looker Mountain Trail, Rixford, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Bradford Manor.
Born February 19, 1947, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Richard C. and Anne E. Smith.
Richard attended Bradford schools and was a 1965 graduate from Mira Loma High School, in Sacramento, CA. He worked for the United States Postal Service in CA. He later was enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in January of 1967. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1972, and returned to work at the Post Office.
While employed at the post office he earned a bachelor's degree in 1973 in Physical Therapy from Long Beach State University. He then began a career in physical therapy in California until he retired in 2008, at which time he returned to Rixford. He was a member and former Deacon at the Rixford Evangelical Church.
Richard is the last surviving member of his family.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11 am on Sunday September 21, 2025 at the Rixford Evangelical Church with Pastor Mike Rex, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Rixford Evangelical Church.
