Richard Smyer Obituary

Richard was born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to Cecil Erwin Smyer and Earma Madray Smyer on January 24, 1943. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged to civilian life where he worked in sales.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 32 years, Betty A. Smyer; sisters, Arlene Smyer, Wanda Allen and step sister Regina Duncan Apperson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Richard Smyer, Jr; daughters, Deborah Hill, Karen Harper and step daughter Jody Guthrie; 10 grandchildren; 21 Great grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Richard's life will be held at Temple Baptist Church in New Bern on September 27th at 1:00 pm with Pastor Darrell Radford officiating.
