Richard G. Snyder, age 82 of Corning, NY passed away peacefully at his home from Dementia on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Born on November 30, 1941 in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna (Samchishen) Snyder.
Richard was a graduate of Northside High School, class of 1961. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1961. Richard worked as a Machinist for Corning Inc., retiring in 2000 with 34 years of service. Richard was a man of strong faith and instilled that faith in his children. He was an avid Yankees baseball fan and the evening before his passing, they won by a landslide. He loved animals of all kinds and was a big fan of scratch off lottery tickets.
Richard is survived by his children: Shawn Snyder of Campbell, NY, Amanda Snyder of Corning, NY; grandchildren: Stephanie Jerome of Campbell, NY, Cassandra Snyder of Corning, NY; great grandchildren: Mariah and Kristian Eaton, Allen Jerome, Jr., Salice and Lovani Nkansah; nephew, Michael (Carmella) Baker of Horseheads, NY; and his cats, Leo and Midnight.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Snyder; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ivan Baker.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12:00 pm, Pastor Kevin Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Hope Cemetery, Corning.
Richard's family would like to express their thanks to American Medical Response, the staff at Guthrie Corning Hospital and CareFirst for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name may be sent to: Grace United Methodist Church, 191 Bridge St, Corning, NY 14830 or to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Rd, Painted Post, NY 14870.
