Pastor Richard Spencer, age 64 of Knoxville, TN and formerly of Hindman, KY, went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2022. He was surrounded by loved ones. As a former pastor and teacher whose ministry spanned over 40 years, Richard completed his ministry as the Senior Pastor of Alice Bell Baptist Church. Faith, family, and fellowship were the top priorities in his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents; Earl and Clarice Spencer, brother; William Alton Spencer, and beloved dog Solomon. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 43 years, Stephanie Ann Spencer, sister; Ethel Lou (Verlin) Combs, sons, Joshua (Jennifer) Spencer of Kimberly, AL, Jared (Jessica) Spencer of Oakdale, TN, daughters; Joy (James) Cowart of Milton, FL, Lana Spencer of Knoxville, TN, 13 grandchildren; Jonah, Judah, Jenson, Jackson, Hadassah, Sophia, Hudson, Beatrice, Lilly, David, Harry, Theodore, Walter, beloved pets; Bowser, Wilford, "Mr. Kitty", and a host of farm animals. As well as numerous extended family members, friends, and church family whose lives were impacted by his years of ministry.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life at Alice Bell Baptist Church to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the church in Richard's memory. My heartfelt sympathies for my sister Stephanie Spencer and her family. Richard will be in our hearts and memories forever as a devoted Christian and family man. He baptized me and taught my young son about the Lord and has been instrumental in bringing many people to the Lord through his perservance and due diligence in his unshakable faith in the word of God.
Richard, we cry for our loss of your company, but we must remember to rejoice in your reward of your so well earned wings.
Until we meet again my brother, my friend, I'll hold all my memories close to my heart. Love you!
