Richard L. "Rich" Steketee Jr.

Richard L. "Rich" Steketee Jr., age 57, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, October 19, 2024. He was born July 21, 1967, in Grand Rapids, MI to Richard and Helen (Bright) Steketee. He lived in Grand Rapids until 1972 when his family moved to Jenison. In 1979 his family moved to North Muskegon. Rich attended North Muskegon High School and graduated in 1985. He then attended Albion College and then transferred to his beloved University of Michigan and graduated in 1990. After graduation, he met his wife Julie, and they married in 1996. They went on to have three girls between 1999 and 2005. By far his greatest love was for his three daughters. Rich lived in North Muskegon for most of his life and has many friends from high school and college that he stayed in contact with over the years. He is known to his friends as the "keeper of memories" and "greatest storyteller of all time". He loved golf, Michigan football, going to concerts, and listening to music at home by the pool. He will be greatly missed by so many. SURVIVORS include his wife, Julie of North Muskegon; three daughters: Emilia, Carina, and Ava Steketee all of North Muskegon; parents: Richard and Helen Steketee of Grand Rapids; brother, Matt (Kristen) Steketee and their children: Megan, Katie, and Matthew of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law, Jamie (Mike) Kasher and their children: Nolan and Olivia of Norton Shores; and his aunt Lucy Bright of North Muskegon. A Celebration of Life Gathering for Rich will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. There will be a time of sharing starting at 3:00 PM followed by a luncheon starting at 4:00 PM. Please come casually dressed in your favorite concert t-shirt, Michigan gear, or your lucky golf shirt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to his children and will be used for their educational needs.
