Richard J. Treadaway

Richard J. Treadaway, 71, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ.

Born in Newark, Richard spent most of his life in Carteret and Woodbridge before settling in Whiting following his retirement from a long and dedicated career as a dispatcher with FedEx. Fondly remembered by his colleagues as "the best dispatcher," Richard had a unique ability to bring laughter to those around him and was known for his quick wit and warm spirit.

A lifelong Yankees fan, Richard also had a deep love for collecting coins, watching Westerns (Shane was his favorite), and, most of all, for making others laugh. He was a proud member of the Carteret Elks and embraced life to the fullest in his younger years, enjoying fishing, hunting, hiking, hitchhiking adventures, and plenty of spirited good times. Later in life, he found joy in the quieter moments-cherishing time with his family and delighting in his role as a devoted father and beloved "Pop Pop."

Richard's heart belonged to his "little family." He was endlessly proud of his daughter, Jillian, and adored his granddaughter, Kaylah, who was the light of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Jillian; his granddaughter, Kaylah; his sister, Joyce Miller; his brother, John and wife Diane Treadaway; his uncle, Ronnie Grimes; his nephews, Craig and wife Kelly Treadaway, and John and wife Kellie Murray; as well as many extended family members and dear friends, especially his best friend, Jake.

Funeral services will be held privately.
