Richard Nelson Vetter, age 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born on January 22, 1935, in Cincinnati, he was the cherished son of Dalton and Sarah Vetter (nee Henn).
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Sarah Vetter. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his beloved daughter, Deborah (John Jr.) Ward; his grandson, John "Trey" Ward III; great-grandson, Justice Rucker; great-granddaughter, Joann Ward; great-grandson, John Ward IV; and his soulmate, Nancy D. Volz. He is also survived by Sharen (the late Simon) Everson and family, Sally (Zev) Nadler, Susan (Michael) Florimonte and family, Robert Johnson and family, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Richard had a vibrant personality, known for his humor and love for laughter. He was a devoted fan of Ohio State football and enjoyed spending his time fishing. His passion for life extended to his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends, whom he loved dearly.
A dedicated member of the ET Carson Lodge and the Syrian Shrine Oriental Band, Richard’s musical talents were showcased through his role as a bass drummer. Richard will also be fondly remembered as a faithful companion to his grand dog, Harley.
In honor of Richard's life, a Celebration of Life will be held at Newcomer Cremations Funerals Receptions, located at 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211, on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The gathering will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM, which will include a Masonic service from ET Carson Lodge F&AM.
Donations may be made to Syrian Shrine HTA Fund 9730 Reading Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45215, this fund enables the transportation of children to the Shrine Hospital.
