Richard Edward Wheeler, 78, passed away on March 10, 2024. He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on April 10, 1945.
He moved to Bradenton, FL, in 1981 with his family. Richard lived a full and adventurous life. As a young man, he was a horse trainer and polo player. Honorably served in the Army National Guard. Owned and operated Richard's Package store in Massachusetts. After moving to Florida, Richard was a realtor and operated his handyman business that served Bradenton for 40 years. During this time, Richard was an avid outdoorsman, boater, fisherman, scuba diver, and motorcyclist. He loved the Florida sun and night life. He was active, playing tennis, billiards, darts and going out with friends to enjoy bowling and dancing to live music in town. In retirement Richard enjoyed working at Windsor assisted living as a shuttle driver, helping people get to appointments and get out for activities. Richard was always smiling and happy to be around friends and help others whenever they needed him. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him. RIP, you will always be in our hearts and prayers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald J. Wheeler and Dorothy (nee Diot) Wheeler and former wife, Linda (nee Mansfield) Wheeler.
He is survived by his sons, Richard E. Wheeler II of Bradenton, FL, Michael P. Wheeler, Round Rock, TX, and three grandchildren, Shelby Patterson, Josehp Wheeler and Matthew Wheeler. He is also survived by his beloved girlfriend, Terri Tice, Port Charlotte, FL.
