Rick Murdock

Rick Murdock, age 79, originally of Akron, Ohio, passed away after a brief battle with cancer.
After working for several years as a Teamster, Rick joined the U.S. Army Reserves and earned his bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University. Rick went on to complete his master's and Ph.D. in Accounting and Quantitative Methods at Cornell University.
Following his doctorate, Rick returned to Columbus, where he built a distinguished nearly 40 year career as an accounting professor at Ohio State's Fisher College of Business and as a consultant and expert witness. Teaching was his passion, and he took great joy in mentoring his students-many of whom stayed in touch with him long after leaving his classroom.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathy; their daughter, Erin Murdock-Park and son-in-law, David Park, of Washington, D.C.; their son, Steve Murdock and daughter-in-law, Felicia Murdock, of Erie, PA; their three cherished grandchildren, Corinne, Heidi, and Ryan, all of Erie; and his sister, Sherry Woodward and brother-in-law, Dale Woodward, of Akron, NY.
Rick will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, sense of humor, and devotion to his family and students. His warmth and wisdom touched countless lives, and his legacy will live on in those he taught, guided, and loved.
