Rickey Lee Koelling, age 68, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on October 20, 2024. He was born on October 3, 1956, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to the late Donald Lee Koelling and Phyllis M. Hayden.
He managed with MFA Oil for several years before opening D&L Auto Care Sinclair Gas Station on West Main in Jefferson City alongside his father and brother.
A man of many passions, Rickey enjoyed hunting, roller skating, roller hockey, and softball. He was also deeply involved in ministering at nursing homes and was known for his exceptional singing voice. His enthusiasm for life extended to racing, where he played an active role in D&L Auto Care's racing team at Capital Speedway. Rickey was truly the life of the party, always making others smile and laugh.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Koelling (Tara) and Matthew Koelling (Kristen), along with his cherished grandchildren, Alec (Kassie), Chase (Amber), Madi, Elliana, Emmerson, Evelyn, and Ember. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Jace, Tatum, Rexton, Emery, and Rowan. Rickey was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert Dale Koelling and Donnie Joe Koelling.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Rickey's name to Hope City Church.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with services to follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Bob Kelly. Inurnment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
Rickey's spirit and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
