Ricky Lee Burchett, age 58, of Ashland, Kentucky, was called home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at his residence. Born on June 24, 1967, in Morehead, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of the late Paul "Slim" and Rosie J. McDowell Burchett. Ricky's life was a testament to hard work, love, and devotion to family.
Ricky was a dedicated installer for a telecommunications company, and he also spent many years working as a hired hand in various chicken coops, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He was a man of faith, holding steadfast to his Pentecostal beliefs, which guided him throughout his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Ricky found great joy in hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was spending time with his family. He cherished every moment with his loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Ricky's warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ricky is survived by his daughter, Nicky Ramey of Ashland; three sons, Ricky Lee Burchett, Jr. of Ashland, Kevin (Jasmine) Burchett of Ashland, and Prudence Medici of Catlettsburg; and eight adoring grandchildren, Tara Shelton, Gabriel Burchett, Sabastian Burchett, Aubree Burchett, Isla Burchett, Emmalynn Smith, Trystan Smith, and Axel Smith. He is also survived by three brothers, Paul Sherman (Tammy) Burchett of Grayson, William Ford (Tammy) Burchett of Grayson, and David (Stephanie) Moore of Ohio; three sisters, Marsha (Scott) Gilbert, Sabra Gumm, and Susan Rena Nunley, all of Grayson; as well as a host of extended friends and family who mourn his passing.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Chester Gumm. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
