Rita Dassing Obituary
Rita was a former member of the Church of Christ in Metropolis. She had a great love for animals, cherished friendships and good movies. She especially had a great love for God. She worked as a CNA in nursing homes for SIU, was a truck driver for J.B. Hunt and worked for Eaton Auto Parts factory.
Rita is survived by a friend of over 50 years, Pamela Childres; good friend, Linda Ross; her son, Sean Patrick (wife Jenny) Dassing Sr. of Petersburg; grandchildren, Sheldon Patrick Dassing and Sean Patrick Dassing Jr.; great grandchildren, Kysen Shepard, Briar Bee, Alaric Dassing, Elliott Dassing and Fenix Dassing; a sister, Linda Dassing Miskelley; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and pets. She was preceded in death by her father in 1982 and her mother in 1952; two sisters, Karen Phillips and Patricia Wiley; and a brother, David Dassing.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens, Illinois, at 10:00 am with Pastor Rob Gallion officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Menard County Animal Control, 19376 Sunny Acres Rd, Petersburg, Illinois 62675, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741.
