Mulhane Home For Funerals - MillburyMILLBURY - Rita M. Dattis, 84, passed away peacefully on August 23rd, surrounded by her loving children.
Rita leaves behind her four children, Leonard Dattis and his wife JoAnn, Deborah Bourget and her husband Larry, Ann Marie Tyler and her husband Tim, and Laurie LeBlanc; eight grandchildren, Larry, Ryan, Keith, Tony, Brad, Timmy, Michelle, and Jenn; seven great grandchildren who adored their Gigi - McKenzie, Tyler, Meredith, Avery, Mason, Christopher, and Lydia. They were the light of her life and she looked forward to their visits and phone calls; a sister Frances Mattrick and her husband Fran; a cousin Gerry Kersus and his wife Kathy and lifelong friend Marie Dattis; many other extended family members who were fortunate enough to be loved by her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter Sakalauskas and Mary (Kersus) Sakalauskas. Rita graduated from the former Commerce High School, after graduating she worked many years as a secretary in the insurance industry until her retirement in 2005. Rita enjoyed trips to the casino, her yearly vacations to Lake George and Saratoga Racetrack, trips to the Dominican and beaches along the East Coast from Maine to South Carolina. Most of all Rita loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to remember Rita’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Saturday, August 30th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
Her funeral service will be celebrated following the visitation at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
