 Rita Ann Emory, 80, of Edwards Road in Inman, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum. 

Rita was born in Spartanburg on August 13, 1944, a daughter of the late Neta Gosnell Laughter and Marion Bryson Laughter.

She was employed for several years at Arrow Automotive and was formerly a reserve deputy for Spartanburg County Sheriff's Department and more recently retired from Inman Police Department after forty years of service. Rita was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Roper Rogers (Terry) of Inman, a brother, Dean Laughter of Inman, three grandchildren, Josh Gosnell, Travis Fleming, Jenifer Roper, four great grandchildren, Camden, Phillip, Bradley, and Daniel. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Kay Pye and a grandson, Jason Roper.

Visitation will be held 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30th at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30th at Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman with Rev. Sean Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. 

Serving as pallbearers are; Richard Abernathy, Chad Mossburg, Keith Tucker, Chad McNeil, Chris Cothran, and Brad Edwards. The Inman Police Department will serve as honorary escort.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Agape Hospice, 1060 Boiling Springs Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
