Rita Colleen Sullivan, 83, of Lansdale, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
Colleen was born in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. In 1957, at the age of 18, she moved to South Boston, MA where she resided for the next 65 years. At the age of 34, she attended the Tewksbury School of Practical Nursing and received a degree as a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Marion Manor in South Boston, MA for over 20 years and retired in 2004.
Colleen was extremely kind-hearted, thoughtful and selfless; and loved having a good laugh with friends and family. She enjoyed sitting outside in the sun, gardening, playing cards, winning at local casinos, and traveling to the Caribbean or back home to PEI. She constantly attended to others needs even helping to feed and tuck in other residents at the memory care unit at Elm Terrace Gardens (Lansdale, PA) where she resided during 2023.
She is survived by her three loving children, Michael Sullivan (Nancy) of Hatfield, PA; David Sullivan (Barbara) of Holbrook, MA; and Thomas Sullivan (Josie) of Quincy, MA. "Mimi" treasured her 7 grandchildren: Ashley Mignosa (Paul), Alyson Harris (Bryan), Cassandra Ustach (Houston Arruda), Eli Sullivan, Meghan King, Kate Sullivan, and Kelly Sullivan. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, her brother Joseph MacDonald, and sister-in-law Theresa MacDonald.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Charlotte; her beloved husband John Harold; her partner Richard Blithe; her daughter Tina; her brothers Jack, Mickey, and Roddy; and her sisters Mae, and Arlene.
The family would like to thank her son David and daughter-in-law Barbara Sullivan for their loving support in caring for Mimi this past year. In addition, they would like to thank the wonderful staff at Elm Terrace Gardens, Lansdale, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 2, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA 19440, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:15 AM. Interment will be private.
