Rita Uran, 72, New Town, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Mountrail County Medical Center in Stanley.

Funeral: Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town

Visitation: Saturday, January 10, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m. at the church.

Interment: Grand Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural New Town

**In place of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town Ambulance, or New Town Fire Department.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Rita Uran, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Mountrail County Medical Center in Stanley.

Rita Gail Langved was born on November 23, 1953, to Roy and Grace (Pierson) Langved in Williston. She was raised on her family's farm near Tioga. Rita was active in 4-H and graduated from Tioga High School in 1972. She then attended Rapid City Business School for two years.

Rita was united in marriage to Sam Uran on March 13, 1976, in Tioga. Together, they made their home in New Town and were blessed with two children. Rita worked for Coast-to-Coast Hardware and then Cenex Convenience Store. Most recently, she worked for 14 years as a para-professional at New Town Elementary School.

Rita was friendly and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Outside of work and family life, Rita's interests spanned a wide range, from sewing, quilting, and gardening to motorcycles and skiing. She belonged to the New Town Quilting Club. In their later years, Rita and Sam traveled to Orlando each year to enjoy the warmth and sun during the frosty winter months.

She is survived by her husband, Sam Uran of New Town; son, Shannon Uran of New Town; grandchildren, Samantha (Brandon) Williams, Melodie Person (Braden), and Lane Person; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Savannah, Ollie, Brandon Jr., and Otto; brother, Steven Langved (Ann); uncle, Arthur (Clarice) Langved; aunt, Lila Perzinski and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Starla Harper; grandson, Cody White; brothers, Gary and Thomas; and her beloved uncles, aunts, and other relatives.
