Rita Kay "Hunter" Wilson

Rita Kay (Hunter) Wilson, 87, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.

Rita was born in Odon, Indiana on April 3, 1938 to Carl and Gayle (Pruett) Hunter. Rita retired from Crane Naval Base after over 29 years of service. She was a longtime member of Odon Christian Church and charter member of the Odon Independent Social Club for 30 years, from 1962 until 1992. In her free time, Rita enjoyed writing poetry and doing crafts. She had a booth at craft shows and even owned her own craft store, Odon Variety & Gifts from 1990-1994. Rita was also an avid euchre player and started various euchre clubs. Most importantly, Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

Rita is survived by daughter, Kyna Sears (Stephanie) of Newburgh, IN; grandsons, Justin, Tyson, and Jeremy Sears (Amelia); and great-grandson, Ezekial Sears.

Rita was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Sears; parents; and sister, Jeanette Carroll.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 1, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm CST at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.

Rita's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 1:30 pm EST at Meng Family Funeral Home, 616 E. Elnora St., Odon, IN 47562. Friends and family may visit from 11:30 am EST until service time on Tuesday at Meng Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, IN.
