Peggy (Pickerill) Smith, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, slipped from sleep to God's arms on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

She was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late Hazel (Wilder) and Rev. E.E. Pickerill on October 6, 1942. Peggy was a graduated of Livingston Central High School. She lived everywhere from Hawaii to Germany. She was a talented crafter and she loved to laugh. Peggy worked hard all her life to keep the family going. She was a caretaker for the elderly, a restaurant cook, waitress and manager. Peggy worked in and managed convenient stores, and loved to share her deviled eggs at the grocery deli. Now she can rest.

Peggy is survived by her three sons, Steve Smith (Connie) of Evansville, IN, Kevin Smith (Nancy) of Monticello, FL and Paul Smith of Evansville, IN; and her daughter, Tracy Krupke of Warner Robins, GA; grandsons, Pasquel Smith, Wesley Smith (Loren Harrison), Kevin Smith (Brittney), Cory Smith, and Vincent Smith all of Evansville, IN; Randall Erwin (Marissa) of Georgia and Wade Speigner of Monticello, FL; granddaughters, Tiffany Austin of Georgia, Amanda Marafino of Evansville, IN, and Ashlyn Speigner of Monticello, FL; great grandchildren, Aeris Harrison, Adilynn and Chloe Berlin, Benaiah and Gideon Smith all of Evansville, IN, Elijah Erwin (Jaylon Zepelin), Elizabeth Erwin, Payton and Paisley Bouvia all of Georgia, and Elizabeth, Benjamin, Thomas and Gabriel of Evansville, IN. Peggy is also survived by an ex daughter-in-law, Starlene Smith of Killeen, TX; and her sister, Sandra Jackson of Owensboro, KY; nephews, Ed Jackson and Mike Jackson (Marilyn) of Owensboro, KY.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Pickerill; grandsons, Justin Smith and Joshua Mayeux; great granddaughter, Murphy; daughter-in-law, Kim Smith; and son-in-law, Jeff Krupke. Peggy was the granddaughter of Veda and Rev. BC Wilder and Pearl and Bill Gibbs.

Friends may visit from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
