Erik Earl Chandler, 54, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Erik was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 6, 1971 to the late Earl "Pete" and Elizabeth (Hayden) Chandler. Erik was a 1989 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and attended Vincennes University. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Forrestal. He served two overseas tours, one during the Gulf War and the other on a Mediterranean deployment. Erik was honorably discharged in 1992 as Petty Officer Second Class. He had a passion for the great outdoors. After his service in the Navy, Erik spent time in Alaska. While there, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also took up an interest in flying and obtained his private pilot license. Erik was an avid collector of baseball cards and memorabilia. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. His greatest joy in life was raising and spending time with his daughter Elise. Erik will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Erik is survived by his wife of 15 years, Melissa (Fehrenbacher) Chandler; daughter, Elise Erika Chandler; mother, Elizabeth (Hayden) Chandler; sister, Melissa Mitchell (Brian); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Deborah Fehrenbacher; sisters-in-law, Andrea Fehrenbacher and Traci Davis (Chris); nieces and nephews, Doug (Abby), Grace "Skye", and Andrew Mitchell, Taylor and Bayleigh Davis; and great-nieces, Zoey and Riley Mitchell.

Erik was preceded in death by his father, Earl "Pete" E. Chandler.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5301 New Harmony Rd., Evansville, IN 47720, with Father Jerry Pratt celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 9:00 am until mass time on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Resurrection Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Catholic Church.
