Robert Lee Anderson Jr., was born on December 26, 1953, to Robert Lee and Darlene (Wright) Anderson Sr. He grew up in Waterloo, Iowa for most of his life. Robert was educated and graduated from East High School in 1970. He joined the Navy and served to protect his country. Robert continued his educational career by attending the University of Northern Iowa where he studied Speech Pathology and Human Resources. He graduated with a master’s degree from the university. Robert was a carpenter for a very long time. He worked his way up to becoming the Maintenance Manager for Commercial and Residential properties. Robert was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa at an early age. He moved around before planting roots in Des Moines. Robert traveled to Atlanta, Memphis and Jackson, Mississippi before returning to Des Moines. He was a member of the American Legion in Waterloo. Robert was active and engaged in sports and kept himself busy. He was in the bowling league and pool league.Robert enjoyed fishing, playing cards and he was good at playing basketball. He was considered a jack-of-all-trades. Robert was equipped to fix up houses and yards. He remodeled many projects, completed projects on roofs and commercial properties.
Robert Lee Anderson Jr., passed away on January 6, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Anderson Sr.; sister, Lucille Anderson; nephews, Alexander Anderson, Michael Anderson, LA’ Vance Cooper and De’Airius Anderson; grandparents, Edward and Lucille Daniels, Mack and Maggie Anderson and Russell and Maggie Wright.
Those left to honor Robert’s loving memory are his children, Nikki Alexander, Teesha Barton, Robert Anderson III; grandchildren, Micuel, Micheal, Walter, Atterious, Ronald, Mya, Lamontrice, Lamontae, Jermaine, Jemuri, Jermaish, De’Aysa, Ezekiel; 13 great-grandchildren; mother, Darlene Williams; siblings, Isadore (Cherisse) Anderson, Michael (Jennifer) Anderson, Henry Anderson, Syliva Anderson, Josie Johnson, Valerie (Perry) Norman, Carmen Robinson, Mildred Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God sisters and brothers. Family and friends will be received at 120 Lafayette street, Waterloo Iowa 50703.
