Robert Charles Beesley, a beacon of love, faith, and generosity, embarked on his final journey on August 27th. Born in Los Angeles on May 1st, 1943, his life's journey began while his father was courageously serving in World War II. The son of Robert Alvin Beesley and Lois L (Knobel) Beesley, Robert's early life was touched by the blessings of faith at Sardinia Baptist Church. The farm fields of Decatur County, Indiana, welcomed the Beesley family in 1950, where they nurtured the land and each other at the Beesley Family Farm near Sardinia. As he matured, Robert became a part of the Jackson Township community, attending its Elementary and Junior High schools. A promising athlete, he showcased his spirit and determination on the basketball court and the track field at Jackson Township High School, proudly graduating in 1961. A seeker of knowledge, Robert's academic pursuits led him to the renowned halls of Indiana University School of Education.
By 1967, he had acquired both a Bachelor and a Master of Science Degree in Science Education. His passion for nurturing young minds was evident in his early teaching days at Taylorsville, Indiana Grade School and later at Central Middle School in Columbus. But Robert's insatiable quest for knowledge didn't end there. By 1970, he earned a Doctoral Degree in Science from Southern Illinois University and, in a testament to his determined spirit, a degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1975. Dr. Beesley, as he became affectionately known, then dedicated his life to healing, serving the community of
Martinsville, Indiana, in his Internal Medicine practice alongside Dr. Randall Lee. For over three decades, he was a cornerstone of the medical community, touching countless lives. His service extended beyond the clinic as he took up roles as the Board of Health Director for Morgan County and the Director of Respiratory Service at Morgan County Memorial Hospital. Robert's life was also richly woven with personal passions. The purr of a Corvette engine, the thrill of the racetrack with the BMW and Porsche Car Clubs of America, and most importantly, the laughter of his grandsons were music to his ears. Every game day, his presence on the sidelines was a testament to his commitment to family.
The legacy Robert leaves behind is vast. His son, Brian J Beesley and his wife Kelly (Mace) of Martinsville, and their sons, Kellan and Cameron, will continue to cherish memories of afternoon drives, generous advice, and unwavering support. His daughter, Erin L Chrissobolis and her husband Sophocles of
Ada, Ohio, and their son Timothy, share the same sentiments. Robert's brother, Dr. Richard Beesley, and his wife Claire, residing in
Estes Park, Colorado, and their daughters Sarah and Ginny, along with Robert's sister, JoAnne Ogilivie of Columbus and her daughter Jenna Carlton, remember a brother and uncle whose heart was as vast as the sky.
But more than the degrees, the accolades, or the cars, Robert's legacy is of a generous spirit, a steadfast faith, and an unfailing love for the Lord. Always ready to champion for a friend, family member, or patient, Robert Charles Beesley's life serves as a gentle reminder of the beauty of kindness, the strength in faith, and the importance of family.
