Robert J. Bongiorno of Lombard, IL, passed away on March 8, 2025. Robert was born April 19th, 1939, in Chicago, IL, the son of Angelo and Eleanor Bongiorno. Robert graduated from Austin High School in 1957. After high school, Robert enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in South Korea. There he befriended a dog named Sam that he loved dearly. He served his country and was honorably discharged. Two years later he was summoned back to serve his country again leaving his wife with two small children. Served two more years to be honorably discharged again receiving a good conduct medal along the way.Robert was preceded in death by his wife Patricia and his son Robert Jr.He is survived by his children, Raymond Bongiorno (Minerva), Sandra (Thomas) Stich and Richard Bongiorno (Michele Siapkaris), his sister, Patricia (the late Melvin) Larsen, his grandchildren Anthony Bongiorno (Danielle), Daniel Bongiorno (Tiffany), Christina (Jacob) Fornek, Thomas Stich III, Niko Siapkaris and his great-grandchildren Camden, Damian, Anthony Jr., Aubrey, Angelina and Jonah. Sister-in-laws, Joeine (the late Ronald) Vandergriff and Camille (Dr. Gary) Delancy.He enjoyed spending time with his family at their cottage in Wisconsin on Lake Koshkonong. He was an avid traveler that enjoyed visiting many destinations with friends and family.He was a wonderful, loving, supportive husband, friend, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved by so many and will be truly missed.A mass will be held at St. Isidore Parish on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:45AM located at 427 W Army Trail Rd, Bloomingdale, IL 60108
