Robert Boroch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home on Feb. 13, 2026.
Robert Anthony Boroch, 95, of Vernon, beloved husband of 69 years to Joan (Ruffini) Boroch, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 9, 2026. Born on January 18, 1931, in Waterbury to the late Frank and Helen (Kawecki) Boroch, Bob was a proud graduate of Crosby High School, Class of 1950.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an Airman First Class during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. After his service, he worked in manufacturing and retired as a supervisor from Reliable Manufacturing.

Bob had a lifelong love of sports, especially as a devoted New York Yankees fan. In July 2024, he was honored by the Yankees as Veteran of the Game-a moment he treasured. He also rarely missed a UConn men's or women's basketball game.

Bob had outstanding hand-eye coordination and stayed active through games like ping pong, darts and horseshoes. He truly shined as a duckpin bowler, achieving a professional-best season average of 135. For many years, he was a dedicated and active member at Holiday Lanes in Manchester.

He enjoyed working on large puzzles, often Yankees or Elvis themed, and drawing Disney characters for his granddaughter. Bob also loved dancing, especially showing off his Elvis-inspired moves and was always the center of attention on the dance floor.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter, Valerie Swan and her husband Parker of Glastonbury; his granddaughter, Alexa Young, husband David and great grandson-to-be, Spencer, arriving in March 2026 ; his brother, Ronald Boroch of Lake Arrowhead, CA; his brother-in-law, Alan Ruffini and his wife Karen of New Jersey; his niece, Megan Ruffini; his nephew, Nicholas Ruffini , wife Melissa and great-nephew Brennan; and other special family members; Deborah and Richard Downing. Bob was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Frank Boroch; and his sister-in-law, Ellen Boroch. Bob was a truly kind and compassionate soul who selflessly devoted himself to caring for his wife for many years.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rt 83) in Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 21st, beginning at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish – St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. To share a memory with the family or leave a condolence visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
