Robert Laverne Cavinder, age 87, of Ontario Estates Senior Living, Ontario, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Avita Health System – Ontario. Robert was born on March 10, 1938, to Robert Adam Cavinder and Rebecca (Allen) Height in Adrian, Michigan. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was very hardheaded and stubborn but loved even harder. He retired from Nickles Bakery after 20 years and from UPS after 20 years and was a Mason, Mansfield Lodge #35. Robert is survived by his children, Marcia (Michael) Baxter, Monica (Chub) Hettinger, Victoria Decker, Bob (Jenny) Cavinder, TC (Pat Seifert) Cavinder, Deborah Poirier, Pam Barron, Wendy Barron, Lee Ann (Rod) Donathan, and Lori (Tim) Mergel; 35 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and care giver, Brenda Milligan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy (Stribling) Cavinder; and his sister, Jo Ann Henderson. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 PM, at Wappner Funeral Home in Mansfield, Ohio. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a calling one hour prior to the service at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, 1170 Shawnee Road, Lima, Ohio, 45805. Burial will follow at Shawnee Cemetery in Lima, Ohio. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW #1275 and the United States Army. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
