Robert Henry Downes, 67, of Erie, went to be in the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was born June 15, 1957 in McKeesport, PA, a son the late Clyde Downes, Sr. and Elizabeth (Yeager) Downes.

Bobby lived in Erie since 1973 and was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.

He was a big part of the Pit Crew Team at Downes Racing for 35 years until his health problems started. Thirty-five years is a short time to work on race cars when you love the sport. He also enjoyed following NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kim Lear.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle and Rachael; and brothers, Jody (Nikki), Brad (Heather), Bryan (Beth), and Clyde Jr. (Tammy) Downes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bobby was a hard worker and lived happy with a heart full of kindness. He always saw the good in people and he will be missed by many.

Special thanks for Life of NWPA for the care they gave to Bobby. He will be remembered and celebrated with family privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. (www.kidney.org) The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., is entrusted with his funeral arrangements.
