Robert embarked on his professional journey by operating a stamp press at Motor Wheel before working at the Board of Water and Light, where he was part of the original crew that hand-dug what stands today as the BWL headquarters in Lansing. Later, he found employment in skilled trades at the Oldsmobile plant in Lansing, showcasing his strong work ethic by often juggling multiple jobs to provide for his family. Even during periods of unemployment from General Motors, Robert utilized his carpentry skills to undertake side projects, including the construction of two family homes.
Outside of work, Robert found joy in crafting items for his loved ones, such as wicker baskets, displaying his creativity. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished hunting and fishing adventures.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Thelma Joyce (Davis) White; granddaughter, Jaime Drewyor; brothers, Elmer Drewyor, Alfred Drewyor; sisters, Esma "Kie" Smith, Esther Mary Shaver, Josephine Champagne.
He is survived by his brother, George Drewyor, half siblings, Michael Robinson, and Sharlene Black. Children, Barbara Drewyor, Roxanne Drewyor, Kenneth (Betty) Drewyor, Robert Jr. (Lisa) Drewyor, Brian (Jeanine) Drewyor, as well as his grandchildren Carrie (Rick) Brock, Audrey (Brian) Lawson, Travis Drewyor, Katharine (Dylan) O'Dowd, Jeffrey (Damien Bender) Campbell, Danielle Craner, Andrea (Samuel) Sanchez, Nikea (Dion) Chavez, Jesse (Amber) Drewyor, Alaina (Joel) Williamson, and Robert Drewyor III. Additionally, he leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Rosehill Cemetery, followed by a luncheon hosted by the family back at the funeral home. Memories and condolences can be shared online at www.SkinnerFuneralHomes.com
